i believe in true love again
i believe that when you said, "did you talk to your doctor yet"
what you meant was "you are precious to me"
and when you said "i love you, em"
i gasped out loud
and it took me a couple hours, but i
said it
back.
all things that remind me of you
i wanted to write this out after the first time you held me but i didn't have the right words yet, and i still don't, so if this is sloppy and it doesn't make sense, i am sorry. but what i really wanted to say is thank you. you say it all the time, you thank me for everything, so often that i wonder if you ever find it difficult to find things to be grateful for, and it makes me think of how often i take things for granted, but this isn't a poem about how inadequate i am, (although i could write several pages worth on that) this is a poem about how when i see you i feel at home. this is a poem about how you don't make me nervous, because when i'm around you i don't feel like i'm skydiving, i feel like i'm sitting in the grass and the sun is out and the wind is blowing and i'm at rest. and also, when i hear your voice i don't hear a symphony, i hear the kind of music that soothes your heart when you're sad or comforts a child who is crying...
